UnBaby Portraits – A Tutorial

My friend surprised us with a midday baby visit today!  So while playing with Baby Megatron (this is our nickname for her), I sat there thinking what sort of awkward random baby photo can I use her for?  You see, I don’t have a baby of my own…so I don’t get to experiment much.  One of Baby Megatron’s outstanding feature is her hair.  It just doesn’t lay flat.  So as a joke, I mentioned  it would be hilarious to take a photo of her being electrocuted.  (Real electrocution…not so hilarious.)  So, her dad quickly got into position (he’s holding her steady in the back – she is after all only a little over 3 months old.)  My husband held the fork nearby and only gave it to her right when I was ready to click the camera.  And of course…the cord IS NOT plugged in.  Some simple off camera backlight (from an off camera flash) to give it that “electrifying” factor…and beautiful window light and VOILA!  A quick UnBaby portrait.

Kristy and Michael : Married

Stalkers, guess what today is??!!!  Kristy and Michael’s third (ACK!) anniversary!  I actually didn’t remember that until I saw that Kristy had posted one of her bridal portrait on Facebook and mentioned that she was feeling a little nostalgic….which got me feeling nostalgic too!  So I went on the old blog to search for their wedding blog…and realized I’ve kept it secret all this time from all of you.  In all seriousness, I was just holding onto this wedding blog so that they can share their wedding blog with their baby girl, Charlotte.  Shhh, don’t tell her parents, but I’m hoping to groom her into a mini Pink Posh Stalker!  Kristy and Michael, Happy Anniversary!

Katie + Jonah : Maternity

A little while ago, Katie contacted me for a Baby Bump session in Austin.  She told me that she would love to do part of her shoot at the top of the cliff overlooking the Austin 360 bridge.  I was impressed, amazed and worried.  I had shot a bridal session up there not too long before that and I remembered the little pieces of rocks on the trails.  It definitely did not make for the easiest of climbs.  So, Katie and I discussed other options in case she didn’t feel up to the climb when the session date drew near…and I was OVER THE MOON when Katie decided on Le San Michele out in Buda, Texas for her maternity session.  Stalkers, this is seriously one of my favorite locations to shoot.  Virginia (the owner) is amazing and always so accommodating………and her home is absolutely stunning, especially when overran with wildflowers and beautiful delicious sunlight.  Katie and Jonah, congratulations on your +1!

Aileen Bridal Portraits

Stalkers, FINALLLLLLLLLLYYYY!  This felt like FOREVER ago!  I have been waiting for Aileen to hurry up and get married so that I can finally share her bridal portraits we shot a couple of months ago out in Richmond, Texas!  She finally tied the knot this weekend…which means………
